About Noted + Co.

Merriam Webster lists nine meanings of the word note. It is a verb with a variety of related meanings such as to note one’s opinion, to take down or note a customer’s order, to note the use of a color or a word in a piece of art. As a verb it envelopes minute attention. It is not a grand gesture, but slight. And as a noun, Merriam says it is both “a usually brief written reminder” and “a message on paper from one person or group to another.” 

As I considered the name of this would-be company, I liked the inherent smallness of the act of noting. It is of the same origins as noticing. It is making note of something small. And as a noun, a note is not necessarily a letter. It’s not long and enduring. It is acceptably a simple, quick thank you or I see you or I like you. The pressure is off.
